متن کاملMasses, widths, and leptonic widths of the higher upsilon resonances.
The masses, total widths, and leptonic widths of three triplet s-wave bb states Y(4S), Y (5S), and Y(6S) are determined from measurements of the e+e annihilation cross section into hadrons for 10.55 & W & 11.25 GeV. The resonances are identified from potential model results and their properties are obtained with the help of a simplified coupled-channels calculation. We find M(4S) = 10.577 GeV, ...
متن کاملDistribution of partial neutron widths for nuclei close to a maximum of the neutron strength function.
For nuclei near a maximum of the neutron strength function, the secular dependence on energy E of s-wave partial neutron widths differs from the canonical form √E. We derive the universal form of that dependence and show that it is expected to significantly influence the analysis of neutron resonance data.
متن کاملDistribution of resonance widths and dynamics of continuum coupling.
We analyze the statistics of resonance widths in a many-body Fermi system with open decay channels. Depending on the strength of continuum coupling, such a system reveals growing deviations from the standard chi-square (Porter-Thomas) width distribution. The deviations emerge from the process of increasing interaction of intrinsic states through common decay channels; in the limit of perfect co...
متن کاملResonance width distribution in RMT: Weak coupling regime beyond Porter-Thomas
We employ the random matrix theory (RMT) framework to revisit the distribution of resonance widths in quantum chaotic systems weakly coupled to the continuum via a finite number M of open channels. In contrast to the standard first-order perturbation theory treatment we do not a priory assume the resonance widths being small compared to the mean level spacing. We show that to the leading order ...
